Description
This one day trek is a great alternative, walking route to Kwang Si Waterfall that passes through Hmong and Khamu villages, green forests and mountain tops with a refreshing ending at the waterfall. Village guides are available to enhance your experience and interpret natural and cultural sites along the way. Family-style Lao lunch is available in a Hmong village. The trek is 4-5 hours of walking.
Itinerary
Depart from Luang Prabang in the mid-morning and drive about thirty minutes on the road towards Kwang Si Waterfall to Ban Nong Heo, a Khamu village where you will meet the village guide and start the trek. Hike through village community forests and agricultural fields 1.5 hours to Ban Long Lao, a Hmong village. Rest and enjoy a family style Lao lunch prepared by the villagers, and learn about traditional Hmong textile production. Continue on through thick forests climbing to the top of a mountain from where you will have excellent views of the area. Descend from the hills to a natural spring perfect for a brief rest and afternoon swim. Finally arrive at the famous Kwang Si waterfall, Luang Prabang's most important natural site. Return to Luang Prabang by car in the late afternoon.

Food
- Family style Lao meal. Typical meal includes chicken, soup, sticky rice, vegetables and chili.
- Vegetarian food is available upon request.
Level of Difficulty & Safety
Easy - Moderate: Moderate climbing involved. Trekkers must be in good physical shape. Total of about four hours walking.
What to Bring
Good shoes for hiking, bathing suit and towel, sunscreen/hat, camera, money to purchase handicrafts. It is advised to wear long pants and a shirt with sleeves to protect against shrubs, insects and sun.
Prices
Group size should be a minimum of two guests and a maximum of eight guests. Prices depend on which tour company is used.
